What do you love about the area?: We love the small town feel, where everyone is warm, inviting and helps each other out. The rural town has convenient access to the cities for easy commuting. It’s a great scenic town with rolling landscapes, lakes, woodlands and farms. There are amazing sunrises and sunsets with many great fishing and boating/recreational lakes and Scandia sits along the St. Croix river with breathtaking fall colors!
What are some great things about Scandia?: Scandia is a historical town were the first Swedish immigrants settled in MN. It has well maintained historical village area that represents historical structures: Gammelgarden Museum, Hay Lake School Museum and Monument. Scandia also hosts their annual town Celebration called Taco Daze, where people come from near and far to celebrate. This offers many activities including a parade, games, food, amazing music and so much more! They also hold Miss Vinterfestand and the Fireman's Ball with great prizes that are donated by the local businesses. No need to leave town, Scandia has it all!
What are some of the Parks/Playgrounds nearby?: Scandia offers many parks, including numerous ball fields and and playgrounds, as well as an ice skating facility. We also have the William O' Brien State Park, Big Marine Lake Park Reserve and the Lions Park. Interstate park along the St. Croix river, which is one of our favorite spots to hike large cliffs, go canoeing and kayaking as well as walking around all the historic glacial potholes. William O' Brien State Park is just down the road, it’s a great place to camp and also offers a lot of activities for kids to learn and explore the outdoors. Big Marine Lake Park Reserve offers the two biggest kids playground parks around as well as a lifeguard, large, clean sandy beach with shallow water where you can walk out for miles.
What restaurants are nearby?: Scandia has several great restaurants. Meister's, with the world famous Meister burger, is a great place to sit back and have a drink with friends. Chico's an authentic Mexican restaurant which is great for a family or date night. Scandia Café is a great option for an amazing breakfast or lunch and Scandia Pizza with an amazing pizza you can't get enough of!
What grocery stores or nearby shopping is there?: Scandia has many businesses including a brand new Super America gas station with an attached “How to Store” that has miscellaneous building and home supplies. We also have the Leroux's All Season Lawn and Sport Hosting Cub Cadet, liquor store, medical and dental clinic, post office, bank, general store and multiple hair salons. Scandia is also known for its beautiful, old, all brick Lutheran Church and Preschool. And don't forget about Scandia's Annual Summer Farmers Market that is hosted at Gammelgarden park from June-Sept. You can see amazing fresh produce, flowers and much more!
Information about the schools in our area: There are endless schooling options in Scandia. This city is part of the Forest Lake School District and is rated 10/10 per test scoring, which is far above the state average. Scandia offers an Elementary School which now hosts pre-school - 6th grade and offers emerging language's. Post 6th grade students are bused to Forest lake which offers many different schooling options; Forest Lake Century Middle School, Forest Lake High School, St. Peter's Catholic School, Central Montessori, Lakes International Language Academy- a school that offers Mandarin or Spanish languages options starting preschool. There are endless options for all, based on your culture, beliefs and preferences. All schools for all ages are part of the Forest Lake District, therefore buses are available for every school.

Key points about the house that we were drawn to when we first looked at the home: When we bought this house we were drawn to the large open feel of the home. Large entertaining kitchen. Huge master bedroom with private bath and two additional bedrooms upstairs next to the master, so our young kids would be close by. Convenience of the laundry room next to bedrooms. Double sided fireplace on main level and beautiful fireplace on lower level for those cold winter days and snuggling while watching movies. Amazing finished walkout lower level and huge yard for the kids to play and for our dog to run carefree. As well as it is seated back far enough off of busy Highway 97. Plenty of room to hold our family Christmas and Thanksgiving.
