What do you love about the area?: We love the quaint, country feel together with the abundant wildlife. The luscious greens, wonderful sunsets, open spaces and woods. It is close, yet separate from the Twin Cities which is only a 45 minute drive. The quiet paved road with almost no traffic and noise is lovely. It is also close to St Croix River, William O'Brien State Park and Big Marine Lake.
What are some great things about Scandia?: The good thing is just being outside, the evening walks. This is also a great place to raise kids. You would also love to experience the fireworks at St Croix every 3rd of July.
What are some of the Parks/Playgrounds nearby?: The William O’Brien State Park provides a beautiful setting for quality recreation. There are also two Scandia parks, Taylor Falls, St Croix River and the Big Marine Lake.
What restaurants are nearby?: The Meisters, Scandia Cafe and a lot of small local restaurants.
What grocery stores or nearby shopping is there?: There are local convenience store like the Scandia Mercantile and Super America. But it is not far from large stores in Forest Lake and Stillwater.
Information about the schools in our area: Terrific small town grade school which is one of the best. Personal experience for the kids is a priority and also the opportunity given to them to be part of the community.
What do you do for interests and hobbies near the property?: We love fishing, gardening and hiking.
Tell us about any additional property highlights, upgrades, recent updates that have been done: Some of the highlights are the beautiful landscaping, porch and the great views from the large windows. The pole barn where our daughter’s horses are staying. Surrounded by nice trees and many mature black walnut trees which I planted along the driveway in 1978. You will see deer, foxes, wild turkeys, pileated woodpecker, wood ducks, owls, fireflies and more. The property also has a pond on its 10 acres.
Key points about the house that we were drawn to when we first looked at the home: The privacy, quiet environment and our very own acreage. The closet space is amazing. Also, the large garage which is next to 80 acres of field with nice view. It could have 5 bedrooms, which we have made one into a sewing room and one into a great office.
