The City of Hanover is located on the western edge of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. It is positioned within both Hennepin and Wright Counties and is just a few minutes west of Maple Grove and south of St. Michael and Albertville.

In the late 1850’s two adventurous brothers left Germany to find a better life for themselves. One of them found himself homesteaded on 160 acres on the Crow River and wrote to his brother to come join him. They eventually named the city after its German counterpart and their birthplace Hannover. The city incorporated in 1891.

One of the city’s important landmarks, the 1885 historic bridge, hosts many unique community events. The Crow River flows under the bridge and through the city’s center. Nicknamed, "the little city on the Crow," Hanover takes pride in focusing attention toward preserving its natural resources and the town’s unique character. Every year the whole town comes together for a fall festival featuring food, games, music, and fireworks.
